Hi Mark! Jordan Hart (PM) here -- if you don't mind elaborating on some of your pain points, I can try to address some things. Search is an ongoing project but does require taking it piece-by-piece (this latest update isn't the end goal).
Some upcoming improvements:
Search query ignores symbols
** This should help if you have naming standards (i.e. can search Tech-Admin or Tech Admin to find results)
** This will be released in a hot fix today
[Optional] Integration with Typesense for search customization
** One of the major limitations with search is that users have different requirements. Although we'll continue to enhance our standard search, Typesense allows users to customize their search criteria (i.e. how "fuzzy" a search can be, applying nicknames, customizing stop words, etc.)
** We're aiming to have this complete in the Q3 timeframe
AI enhancement via Hudini
** One of the major projects we've been working on is Hudini, our AI assistant. This still requires some additional development time, but once it's a bit further along we'll be able to supplement search with AI.
** This would allow for semantic search
** Unsure on exact timeline here, but working to get this asap
