Password colours/colors to show their meaning

Password colours serve limited purpose as users must remember what a colour means.

The latest updates moved colour into the "edit mode" which is great and places the colour prominently beside the password title.

I created with CSS a method to switch the circles out for rounded rectangles and text for (my example only):

  • Need Update

  • Shared

  • Normal

  • Insecure

  • Validate

An option to customise these so they have a clear purpose would be great to encourage their use. Note: I only see extra noise if they are added to the list view for passwords, not benefit.

Similar to but separate from global tags for passwords.

Some other users have requested being able to flag passwords (https://hudu.canny.io/feature-requests/p/flag-passwords), 3 of your examples could be flagged due to the need to have them resolved as issues:

    Need Update

    Insecure

    Validate

but as for Shared & Normal, being able to allocate some information to the colours in the back end which are just hover-over tooltips would be really useful.

Needs update has been covered here too (https://hudu.canny.io/feature-requests/p/aging-passwords-report)

Alternatively the Tags section could have "Shared Password" etc. in them?

Oliver I do also tag them "Shared Password" etc but the purpose of this is visual indication - the tags are not suitable for this by default. I found the below option would get out of hand compared to a limited set of colours.

I personally don't want them to be flagged, because nobody else would be going through that list, but it's valid.

The method changed after a recent update, but you can use the below to colour tags if you want:

      .chip a[href$="?tag=Client+Shared"] { background-color: palevioletred; }
