New Windows when clicking on items

When I click on a file or another link it always opens in the same window. Could you have that open in a new window?

Assuming this is referring to links while writing KB Articles, I think "new window/tab" is best as my clients will click on a link and leave the documentation and not know how to get back to where they left off. That being said, having defaults would be great to better fit the preferences of different writers and reduce time spent editing links one at a time.

Although the standard is to open links in the same tab/window, it makes zero sense to be reading documentation and be redirected away from that documentation. 95%+ of the time we need to keep that article open to reference. We absolutely need to be able to toggle open in new tab/window or somehow add target="_blank" but I don't see a way to do this. This is low-hanging fruit, please just get this done, it's so frustrating!

Please make New Window \ New Tab the default option or, at least, toggleable.

The default action for a copy/pasted link, or even a newly created link should always be "open in new window." It is very rare "if ever" that I want it to open in the same window.

I was going to create a new request but I think this should also apply for the "View Portal" for clients as the new page does not have any tie backs to the platform.

Jeff F. : This might be a personal preference. That's how Autotask behaves and it's not long before you have a screen full of windows and lose track of what's what.
Hold CTRL when you click to open in a new tab. Hold SHIFT when you click to open in a new windows.
    Voila!

Andrew H.: Along with CTRL or SHIFT, middle mouse button will also open a new tab. This feature being a toggleable user preference would make the most sense.
