The current Rack View in Hudu provides a great visual overview of device placement, but to make it a truly practical infrastructure tool, it should also support complete cable and port mapping — including fiber, copper (Ethernet), and power connections.
We’d love to see an enhancement where each device in the rack can display its ports and physical connections, either in the same rack or even across multiple racks.
This would make it possible to visualize, document, and trace exactly how everything is wired, for example:
Switch 1 – Port 24 → Patch Panel Port 3 → Server NIC 1
UPS Outlet 5 → Firewall Power 1
Fiber Module 1 → Core Switch Fiber Port 2 (Rack B)
The idea is to have at least a generic port visualization per device, showing where each port is connected — within the same rack or between racks.
This view would be extremely helpful for installers and field technicians, allowing them to mark exactly where a specific client connection is terminated in a switch or patch panel, directly inside Hudu.
In short, this feature would evolve Hudu’s Rack View into a true physical connectivity map, unifying devices, ports, and cabling (fiber, copper, and power) into one visual interface. It would make documentation more accurate, reduce confusion during installations, and provide a clear, end-to-end picture of the physical network.
