Disable or adjust Image filtering in KB articles

The current default for all pictures added to KB articles appears to apply some kind of sharpen filtering(unsharp-mask?) which causes ringing artifacts and distorts images. Please provide a way to adjust or disable filtering so we can avoid distorting our images.
