Deleting an Asset Layout Field alterntative

It would be appreciated, if upon deleting an asset layout field,

it would offer a checkbox to convert existing data in entries of that field onto the notes-field if applicable.

Or generally add a "fallback" field below entries in which info from deleted variables is stored (retention).
