Is it possible to have the option to make a new field that is defined as currency ie. $000.00 Added points if you give a dropdown for the different currency symbols for people not using Dollars
We need a data type such as float or decimal for assets that will allow us to tack time such as .25 hours as well as costs or money or dimensions. Then this field can be used via the API for reporting. Currently we are trying to work around with the text data type, but it is problematic.
I think there is an opportunity to make the 'Number' field smarter… add additional checkboxes in the configuration screen for enabling decimal place support, and another checkbox for currency.
Regarding the currency symbol, this could be solved by adding another parameter for custom prefix and postfix, so we can add our desired symbol to the front, or we can supply a unit type after the number such as 'hours', 'items', 'units', 'volts', etc…
If you are on this feature request, I'd recommend opening a support ticket referencing this and the other request mentioned in my comment. At the very least the devs should be capable of implementing decimal support to satisfy our basic needs, and the prefix/postfix feature can be tackled a little later.
