Ability to set default entries in Fields within Asset Layouts
Is there a way to add when adding/editing a Field in Asset Layouts to 1. Enable a default value for the field and 2. Define the default value depending on the field type?
For example, if it is List Select, be able to select the default item from the list that is specified in "List To Pick From:" or if it is just text, to be able to type in a default value that will show up in the box.

This would help us maintain assets with a consistent layout.

I'm sure I've commented on a similar request for this but can't find it, it would be fantastic for a number of reasons, certainly means repeat info can be entered quickly and accurately, and information external to your own control can be bulk uploaded for example:
We have "WAN" assets, 3 of the asset fields are "Provider", "contact number", and "Provider Status Page", if they were bought out by another ISP, or rebranded, or the support number changes, I have to change each one of these manually, it'd also save a massive amount of time filling these steps out.

Sounds like a great idea, would be super helpful

This would be good, I'm moving our clients over and for each ISP I'm having to manually enter the contact number for the client.
Every Sage entry I'm having to add a 2*3 table for Serial No. Account No. Activation Key. I'd be nice to have some pre-sets that pull from a top level.

Or even, clone an Asset with the populated emty table etc that would be handy! Used to do that in MediaWiki - Once we got our template the way we wanted we would just click clone.

I second this, I don't want to have to create a table for every asset of the same type in a rich-text field.
I'd like the ability to pre-create a table that appears in all new assets.
For instance, a blank table for switch port information.
