Network Equipment Ports

Would be nice to have a visual interface for mapping ports from routers, modems, switches, etc.. similar to how the rack layout works. Option adding ports, assigning what they are for and where they are assigned to.. Can tie in to networks, racks as well..
Example:
1) Bell ONT
Using Rack "Office Rack" 1
Network "Public Bell IP - Static"
Public IP: Static 40.22.22.123
Private IP: Static 192.168.1.1
WAN 100% Used
LAN 33% Used
Port 1 - 2.5 GPON WAN Capable - 2.5 GPON WAN - Service In "Bell"
Port 2 - 1/2.5/10Gbps WAN Capable - 1Gbps WAN - Connected to TP-LINK ER-605 Router (Static 192.168.1.100)
Port 3 - 1/2.5/10Gbps WAN Capable - UNUSED
Port 4 - 1/2.5/10Gbps WAN Capable - UNUSED

2) TP-Link ER605 Router
Using rack "Office Rack" 2
Network "blah blah blah"
Public IP:
Private IP: Static 192.168.1.100
WAN 100% Used
LAN 75% Used
Port 1 - 1Gbps WAN Capable - WAN - Connected to "Bell ONT"
Port 2 - 1Gbps WAN/LAN Capable - WAN - Connected to "Failover LTE Router"
Port 3 - 1Gbps WAN/LAN Capable - LAN - Connected to OMADA OC300 (Static 192.168.1.101)
Port 4 - 1Gbps LAN Capable - LAN - Connected to TP-Link Jetstream 48 Port (Static 192.168.1.102)
Port 5 - 1Gbps LAN Capable - UNUSED
[Passwords linked to Router Admin login]
This example is just off the top of my head, but something similar would help to manage network infrastructure...
If done this way you can also easily implement a visual map view of everything with links directly to the devices which can help troubleshoot issues.. Since everything would be connected it would be easy to show the service in Bell => port 1 "Office Rack" Slot 1, port 2 "Office Rack " Slot 1 => port 1 Router in "Office Rack" Slot 2, from port 4 "Office Rack" Slot 2 => port 1 "Office Rack" Slot 3, port 23 "Office Rack" Slot 3 => Computer Asset "John Doe Desktop PC"..
Wouldn't be too hard to do that as well.

I think this would be the better option for a feature request.
This would allow patch panels, routers, and switches. Really anything with ports that need to be documented
We could map a switch port to a patch pannel front port. then the back port of the same pannel to a jack in a room and then that jack to a printer. All these objects would be mapped to these ports.
Have the port be a field you can add to any asset layout, with the option of having a front and back on that same port. This could even evolve into dynamic network diagrams and charts.
Please consider this.

Kristen W. This was posted back in 2025. Has this been added as a feature?

Kristen W. Is this still "In Progress". I can no longer see it on the RoadMap. Would be great to have this feature.

Definitely this. The ability to have generic stencils already supplied would be nice, but also the ability to add your own stencils as a template and chose those would also be great.
Additionally, the ability to document what plugs into both sides of the patch panel both with a text-based label and the ability to link it to an existing asset or create a new one.
