API - Get records by URL/slug

It would be beneficial if we had the ability to search the various API endpoints by slug or full URL.
Use case: Chat clients (e.g. Slack) have the ability to "unfurl": a link and show a preview of the contents. It would put a performance burden on the server to retrieve all records and then filter the results.
